Description

Identical files can be deduplicated incrementally by replacing duplicates with hardlinks or reflinks. It is useful for saving space in large collections where repeated content is common.

Deduplication changes file relationships and can surprise backup or editing workflows. Use dry runs, understand hardlinks and reflinks, and back up important data first.
