Description
Broken systems can still unpack, create, or inspect archives using a statically compiled bsdtar that does not depend on many shared libraries. This is useful for recovery, rescue shells, and repair work when dynamic libraries are damaged.
It is an emergency archive tool. Archive extraction can overwrite real files, so verify paths and keep backups when repairing a system.
